"Go to the ant, you lazybones! Learn from their ways and become wise." (Proverbs 6:6)
Ants have no captains, managers, supervisors or
rulers but they gather and store food during the harvest time so they can eat in
the lean seasons. We see two extreme types of people in the world. It is either
'work alone, no rest,' or 'rest alone, no work.' Both are against the nature and
the God's plan. God created everything and took rest on the seventh day. Seventh
day, viz., Sabbath, is the day for rest and restoration. That is the God’s
order.
Now every thing is in upside down with human experiments. The end result is
sickness, worry, poverty, war, restlessness, no sleep, family breakdown and
confusion. Students are not ready to work and they are now a frustrated stock.
Workers are not ready to work and they are lethargic and non-motivated. Elders
are in couch, killing time and live in aimlessness. If laziness turns us from
our responsibilities, poverty may soon bar us from the legitimate rest we should
enjoy. All the works are holy. Do our work diligently as it is for God. He gives
the rewards. Today or tomorrow you will reap what you sow .
Bill Gates' father grew up with the fear of depression and stock market crash.
When His grandfather was 8 years old, Bill Gates, Sr. sold newspapers in the
freezing cold streets in Alaska to help his family. He didn’t go to movies or
ball games. He didn’t hunt fish or went for boating or biking. He rarely took
vacation until the day he retired. Even after his grandfather retired, he did
stints working in one furniture store.
In the early days of Microsoft, Bill Gate and his partner, Paul Allen, worked,
ate, and slept in their first office in Albuquerque, where they wrote software
programs. There were no days off in that situation either. Now Bill Gates, the
richest man on the earth, runs one of the largest charity organizations and
provides jobs for millions of people and inspires the world.
"Whoever works his land will have plenty of food but he who follows worthless
pursuits will have plenty of poverty." (Proverbs 28:19)
Jesus, thank you for the day given to us to work.
Give us the health, motivation and interest to work. Lord, give jobs to those
who are laid off and unemployed. Let everybody get the living wages. Let the
employers give proper rest and vacation to the workers. We cry for the exploited
people. We ask this in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
