“I have opened a door for you that no one can close.” (Revelation 3:8)
Jesus is the door. His door of salvation is kept
opened and every body is welcome. If God opens the door no one can close it and
if he closes the door no one can open it. There is a logic- if one door is
closed, another door is open always. During the struggles of everyday life,
sometimes we feel that all doors are closed. The reality is not so. Always
Jesus’ hands of salvation are with us even in the darkest period of life . The
problem is how we see it.
Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the Telephone, once said, "When one door
closes, another door opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon
the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." The door of
opportunity is always ahead of us. Only we have to arise and see it. Trust in
Jesus, that he never allows us to tempt us beyond our capacity.
In 1994, the home for the aged destitute of St Thomas Syrian church was under
construction in Chennai. We ran out of money. No more funds available to
continue the construction. Meanwhile, a rich and influential member who is
working in gulf assured me of all the assistance if I go to Gulf. With a letter
from LL. H.B. Mar Baselios Paulose 2, and with great expectations, I went to UAE,
during the great lent.
Unfortunately, I felt that all doors were closed in front of me. None of the
priests and the bishops who were there for passion week programs, was ready to
cooperate. The family who assured me of the help, kept silent by entertaining
the visiting bishops.
The God of heaven opened a new unknown door to me, in that precarious situation.
Beena, the wife of Dr. Joseph (Joseph Clinic) invited me for a High Tea. I
accepted the invitation. She used all her influence for the good cause and
invited and gathered together all her friends for the High Tea. Before I left
UAE, the God filled kitty of the organization with 4,25,000, the exact amount
required to pay for the pending construction cost. It was a huge amount at that
time. May God bless them. Expected door was closed but unexpected door was
opened. That is the way of God.
Always trust in the words of Jesus. Look on the opened door not on the locked
door. Immense opportunities are ahead of us that are open if only we look.
Jesus, thank you for the door of mercy that is kept opened for us. Forgive us for not utilizing it. Now we see our door of salvation and opportunities. Let us all enter in to the house of love and light. Give us the inner eye to see the opened doors. Let those who are living in darkness of sickness, deprivation, injustice, exploitation and burden of running the family, find solace in you. We ask this in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
