"They forgot the Lord their God, who had rescued them from all their enemies surrounding them." (Judges 8:34)
Can the faith in God save me from this dire situation?
We are at the mercy of nature and our first reaction to any disaster is – 'God's wrath is against the sins of people.' Is there any truth behind it? History, logic and the testimonies speak in affirmation. We are responsible for the crimes, environmental pollutions, revolutions and all the ills of the world. Nobody can shift this blame on God or nature.
God's creations are always good and he saw it that way. We can explore the universe, send human beings to moon and plan to send them to Mars or even to other galaxies. Yet, we are unable to stop or even predict accurately any disaster, like the volcanic eruptions that happened in Iceland in April 2010.
"The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom." Whenever or wherever people have lost faith in God and lived in ungodly ways, there has been a great impact on the earth and her atmosphere, resulting in disasters, diseases and chaos. Voltaire once said that if there is no God, then we have to invent one. That is the only way to solve the problems of the world. People should come to the basic requirement of life - faith in God and live according to his loving rules.
In his Templeton address in 1983, the late Nobel laureate Solzhenitsyn had said, "Over half a century ago while I was a child, I recall hearing a number of older people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had fallen on Russia: "Men have forgotten God; that is why all this has happened." But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some sixty million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat - "Men have forgotten God; that's why all this has happened."
We are so secularized and have lost our direction, like a ship in the eye of a storm. Go back to the Creator as this is the only way to be saved from this dangerous and monstrous mess.
Jesus, save us from this chaos. We have made a mess of your beautiful creations by our actions and we take responsibility for it. Forgive us and forget our wrongdoings. Give us the heart and mind to turn to you. We ask this in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
