"So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27)
Are you treated badly?
We treat and protect animals and plants better than we treat humans. There is a
huge hue and cry for the extinction of different species but not for the
pinnacle of God's creation – Homo sapiens. In the name of abortion, mercy
killings and wars millions of people are breathing their last in their budding
years. Also, different kinds of natural calamities and diseases take their toll
on human lives as well. There is no guarantee that, in this turmoil, the human
race will survive. Is this is the final stage of extinction?
Without man, what is the meaning of art and artifacts, science and technology?
Science says that at least 4% of our DNA is entirely different from the closest
species to man - Chimpanzee. We are the reflection of God's glory. Our entire
self reflects God's image. We have the ability to reflect God's character in our
love, patience, forgiveness, kindness, and faithfulness. If at times, you feel
worthless or of little value, remember that God made you for a good reason to
reign on everything, not to be ruled. You are valuable to Him.
In the celebration of the 50th anniversary of India's independence, Mother
Teresa wrote, "When I look around our country, the land that God has given to
each one of us to call our home, I see so much of his blessings and goodness:
the smallest flower, the tallest trees, the rivers, the plains and mountains.
But where do we find most the beauty of our country? We find it in each man,
woman and child." One day she picked up a bundle from the street. "It looked
like a bundle of clothes that somebody had left there, but it was a child. Then
I looked closely: the legs, hands, everything was crippled. No wonder someone
had left him like that. But how can a mother who did that face God? But one
thing I can tell you; the mother – a poor woman had left the child like that,
but she didn't kill the child. This is something that we have to learn from our
women, the love for the child."
Ill-treatment of life in any forms is despicable. Preserve the unique creation
of God - human beings. Make a pledge – never ever knowingly and unknowingly
ill-treat anybody.
Jesus, Save your lovely creation. Let those who
are ill-treated and vandalized be protected. Let the perpetrators be brought to
justice. Give a fresh new life to those who are lost. We ask this in the name of
Jesus.
Amen.
