"Let us think of ways to motivate one another with acts of love and good works.” (Hebrews 10:24)
Can we make a difference in the life of others by
our simple deeds?
With zero efforts, we can make great positive changes in the lives of others.
This will give a refreshing breeze in the lives of the givers, and they could go
to bed with a bit of self- satisfaction and have a healthy sleep. “If the world
seems cold to you, kindle fires to warm it by our little good deeds with care
and love. Let us not love with words or tongues but with act out and in truth”
(John 3:18). Let us consider that we are the instruments of the Creator to
continue his creation. "I’m a little pencil in the hands of God who is writing a
love letter to the world." - Mother Teresa. Let God’s creative and regenerative
construction flow through our bodies towards others with our thoughtful caring
and loving actions. The world stands as it is because this kind of love and
small deeds.
Joe is a 40 plus man with down syndrome who is physically weak and gets tired
very easily. He stays with his eldest sister, Ann. Once when Ann had fractured
her leg and was in cast, a few people had come to see her. Amidst their
conversation, Ann was struggling to keep her broken leg elevated. Nobody paid
attention to this as everyone was busy talking. Joy got up and came back with a
stool to keep her leg aptly comfortable. This act moved everyone in the room.
This simple, yet thoughtful, act by a person with Down syndrome made a great
difference in the life of a family. Are we, the so called healthy and perfect
people, concerned about others?
“The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever” (Psalm
22:8).
“We make a living by what we get, but make life by what we give." - Winston
Churchill.
Jesus, we pray for those who care and love others. Lord, bless the good Samaritans like Joy. We pray for him and all the mentally challenged and disabled. Let our lives be kindled with the fire of thoughtful love and care with simple deeds towards others. Let us make a difference in each day by our lives on this beautiful earth. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
