"On cross, he disarmed all powers and forces." (Colossians 2:15)
Cross is the symbol of humiliation and excruciating pain and death before Christ nailed on it. But now it becomes the embodiment of love, suffering and victory by the death of Jesus on it .In good Friday we kneel in front of the cross by saying that by the cross we have salvation. The disarming occurred when Jesus died on the cross. Evil no longer has any power over believers because Christ has disarmed it. When we visualize, cross or put cross or see any cross, remember that we are insulated from all the vagaries of darkness by God himself. And we may find comfort, courage and strength.
Albrecht Durer and Franz Knigstein were students
of art. Both worked to support their studies. That has affected their studies so
they
reached an agreement; they would draw lots, and one of them would work to
support both of them while other would study art. So Albrecht got the chance to
study while Franz worked. By hard manual labor to support Albrecht, Franz's
slender, sensitive hands had been ruined for life and it became stiff and
twisted. He realized that he could not pursue his studies to become an artist.
One day Durer saw his friend kneeling with his gnarled hands intertwined in
prayer, for the success of his friend Durer, although he himself could no longer
be an artist. Immediately he sketched the folded hands of his faithful friend.
"The Praying Hands" became the master piece. It tells the story of love,
sacrifice and gratitude.
Lord, we remember your great sacrifice for us on cross. Protect us today from all evil forces. Let us conscious about your insulation from all insult of the world. All we ask in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
