Question 37. What does the book of Acts say about people who believed in Jesus Christ?
Those who gladly received his words were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them? (Acts 2:39, 38, 41).
- The man from Ethiopia, who was a powerful authority under the queen of Ethiopia - was baptized when he believed in Jesus Christ (Acts 8:38)
- Saul was baptized when he believed in Jesus. (Acts 9:18)
- The jailer and all his family were baptized at once? (Acts 16:34)
- Lydia, who believed in Christ was baptized (Acts 16:15)
- Cornelius and others were baptized (Acts 10:48)
- Crispos the ruler of the synagogue and other Corinthians were baptized (Acts 18:8)
- People of Ephesus believed and were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 19:5)
- In Mark 16:16, Jesus says, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned."
If baptism was optional, why did the apostles baptize all these people? They baptized because Jesus asked them to do so.
