Broken Marriages Can be Repaired

by Rev. Fr. V.V. Paulose, Toronto, Canada

Today's Bible Verse

"Don’t break your promise to the wife you married. I hate divorce. So be careful. And do not break your trust." (Malachi 2:15,16)

Discussion

A broken marriage is soldered by the Midas touch of Jesus.

Family is the fountain of joy on earth. Parting with your family never reaches the destination of Happiness by any other institutions that has been invented by humans because the union of man and woman is the creator’s dictum just like the gravitational rule of earth.

1 Corinthians 7:10 - "And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, let not the wife depart from her husband."

Marriage is the union of love, not a contract. The modern earth is full of temptations, and chances of a breakdown is natural. But don’t be discouraged and live in the filth of sins and live in lifelong unhappiness for the fear of no return and acceptance and correction and soldering. Forgive and forget all the past wrongs and waywardness and accept each other as husband and wife in love.

1 Corinthians 13:5 - "Love is not self seeking, it’s not easily angered, it keeps no wrong."

Then submit to each other and don't let Satan tempt you.

Hebrew 10:25 - "Let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the day approaching."

God can heal all your wounds and come to your aid today itself. Trust in Him. He will join all the broken pieces of your shattered messy marriage life.

Linda, a Catholic, was born in a messy marriage partnership. Childhood was very challenging and not pleasant. She got married to a government employee with a good salary. He is a Syrian Christian, but a drunkard. They had problems in their relationship from day one of their marriage. They have two boys, not properly educated and fostered. Linda had cultivated a number of bad dirty relationships as an escape from her drunkard husband. And this led to strife and brokenness in other families.

Counselling and divorce and counter divorce darted from one end to another. There was no end solution from this muddy slippery world of mistrust and sins. One day Linda attended a spiritual meeting and she was convinced that her filthy and unhappy family life had to stop. She cried and cried and confessed her sins to Jesus. She rushed to her first husband in love and accepted him as her lover. She said goodbye to all her other partners.

Both husband and wife started to attend church together and he stopped all his bad habits and accepted Jesus as his Lord and God. For the last 10 years, they have been leading an ideal Christian family life forgetting their terrible past. Their children are now married and are blessed with good families. A happy ending.

Ephesians 5:21 - "Submit one another out of reverence for Christ."

Prayer

Jesus, let your love bind all families together and keep marriages intact. Don’t allow any other love and encroachment at any cost in our family life. Let it always be unblemished with happiness, peace and love. Bring back the glory and love of marriage to our families and homes. Let us have a glorious legacy to our coming generations. May correction and reunion take place in all broken marriages. Everything is possible by your Midas touch. We pray for all the families whose lives are in a mess. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
