"Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.” (Isaiah 55:6)
Early screening saves a doctor from colorectal cancer.
“A Stitch in time saves nine” is an applicable saying in our lives where we can correct the problem before it becomes too late. Any sin can be stopped if we detect it early and are ready to correct it then and there. Ephesians 4:26 - "Do not let the sun down while you are still angry.” Procrastination is the weakness of the body that will ditch human beings in the darkness of the death pit. Hebrew 3:12 - “If you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Delaying to do the reflection and correction in life is the way of destruction. Ecclesiastes 5:4 - "When you make a vow, to God, do not delay in fulfilling it.”
Dr Barry Stein is the president of the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada. In 1995, when he was 41 years old, he went for the cancer screening without any conceivable symptoms. The screening detected that he was at the advanced stage of colon cancer; it was already spreading to the liver and lungs. He underwent intensive treatments and has now been completely cured of the disease. He is still alive and looks young and healthy.
Dr. Stein is spreading the message of awareness and education of early screening and test for cancer in all adults. He says, “Look on me how I look like and am still alive and active.” He advises not to delay the screenings for cancer. (Colon cancer is the number 2 killer in the cancer clan. This malignancy (cancer) makes uncontrollable growth of cells that line the inside of the colon (large intestine) or rectum. About 150,000 new cases of colorectal cancer is diagnosed yearly in the US. Wide-spread screening for cancer can save many lives. Early detection reduces the probability of major surgery and increases chances of cure.)
Mathew 5:23,24 - “So if you are presenting a sacrifice, at the altar in the temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and reconcile with that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice."
Jesus, let us correct our wrongs and follies before sunset and reconcile with all. Let us understand the seriousness of procrastination of correction and early detection of spiritual, physical and mental sicknesses. We pray for all the colon cancer patients for their speedy recovery and for all the medical professionals who are in the forefront of cancer treatments like Dr. Barry Stein. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
