“But Martha was busy with all the work to be done.”
(Luke 10:40)
Is it a workable schedule - night duty ends at 8
A.M. and Holy Mass starts at 9 A.M.?
Life is busy. Busyness is the creation of mind and the nurture of man. ‘I’m
busy’, ‘I don’t have time,’ and ‘you’re in queue’ are the stereo type words we
are being heard from the mouth of modern man and machine. This kind of life is
not good but bad. At the expense of the light and the food of life – God and his
kingdom , the search for happiness in job or other places is ever elusive and
end it in the mouth of an Alligator - a world never to come back. The busy man
is trotting and wading through an unknown horizon with out any boundary. Science
and history of life eloquently say life with busyness paves the way for sickness
. But knowing all these we say no time . The first thing we keep apart to do
tomorrow is the worship, the prayer and the God. By doing this we think we are
most practical. But God says, “But seek God’s kingdom, and all the other things
you need will be given to you.” (Luke 2:31) Jesus told to the busy lady Martha,
“Martha, Martha,, you are worried and upset about many things, Only one thing is
important, Mary has chosen the better thing (Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet and
listening to him teach.) and it will never taken from her .” (Luke 10:41)
Smitha is a nurse with two grown up kids one studying in university and other
working in America, a place where time is money and a place where no time to
even to attend a funeral of the parents . Her work schedule is most often falls
on Saturday night duty that ends at 8 A.M. She is a devote Christian finds time
to do all her works meticulously that God has entrusted to her. The Mass in the
church starts at 9 A.M. She has to drive 50 kms to the church from her house.
And all the Sundays she is at the church on time. Some one asked her how she
could mange all these , house hold , job, church, children, even to go an d help
the people in need back home in India and after that on time in the church. Her
simple answer is , “If I can be on time for my job in the hospital why not I
could and would be in the church on time” If there is a will there is a way.
That is an adage for universal application.
“But my God shall supply all your needs according his richness glory by Christ
Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) “Remember to keep the Sabbath holy.” (Exodus 20;8)
Prayer and worship shall not leave from you and from your house.
Jesus, Let us find time to worship you in this busy life. Please excuse all our excuses not to come to you on time. Let’s have the spirit and willingness to rewind and rearrange all our messed time to come to you. We pray for all the faithful those who find time to participate the Holy Mass on time and get nourished . We pray for more Smithas to sprout. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
