"Never let loyalty and kindness leave you. Tie them
around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep with your heart." (Proverbs 3:3)
A daily dose of compassion keeps the doctors
away!
A number of medical studies have proved that a kind and compassionate person has
more immune power to a number of sickness than the unkind. That is the reason
Bible advices, "Be kind and compassionate to one another" (Ephesians 4:32).
Kindness is one of the nine fruits of the Holy spirit. Kindness makes tears of
joy. Kindness makes all living organism to grow healthy with a strong body. Even
an indoor/outdoor plant with a daily dosage of kind and compassionate talk and
touch responds positively by its healthy growth. We live because of compassion
and love. The barren land of kindness and love is the harbinger of the
extinction of man on earth. Man is called human because he is kind or humane.
St. Paul says, "Your love has given me much joy and comfort" (Philemon 1:7). A
kind person works for the justice of others. Thoughts and words are not enough -
our life reveals whether we are truly kind. Do your actions measure up to your
attitude?
Mary fell on black ice and broke a leg. Her adjacent neighbors sharing common
walls, never called on Mary, even though they were well informed of the
accident. Are they insensitive to the sufferings of others or are they unkind at
the core or is it due to cultural differences?
Angelina, a 11 year old daughter of a servant with no proper schooling, is a
compassionate angel. Every day in front of her mother's work place at a busy
intersection road, Angelina holds the hands of the blind and helps them cross
the road to the bus stop from their home for the blind nearby. It’s a sight that
really moves you. Meticulously and religiously, she is there every day without
fail to help them cross the road and put them onto the bus of their destination.
Kindness is an action verb that we should act on. Visit somebody in the
hospital, send birthday cards, cook some food for the needy, help an elderly
person, call somebody who is feeling low, wash plates or vacuum floors of those
who are unable to do so.
Jesus, let us be kind to the needs of others. Generate genuine kindness in our hearts and minds. We pray for those who spend their time, money and talent in the altar of kindness. We pray for the people who need attention, care and love. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
