A career shaped out of personal adversity.
Adversity never leaves us without a lesson for good. Most of the great fruitful achievements and goodness of humanity have blossomed out of adversity and from the land of tears and hard labour. The world has been redeemed by the ruthless inhuman atrocity stamped on Jesus, the Lord and God of Universe by the then rulers, rich, educated and religious tycoons. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the mighty Christendom of the last 2000 years and more. Romans 8:28 - “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” So we should not lose our hearts in difficult terrain and situations. We do not lose heart, though outwardly we are wasting yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4;15-17 - "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
Bobby Kennedy Jr is the son of John F Kennedy’s brother, Robert Kennedy. He is one of the country’s most passionate environmental activists. Protecting nature is not just about saving fish and the birds, he says; it’s about tending to our own deepest values and our children’s basic needs. He didn’t always plan to work in environmental law, his career grew out of personal adversity. In 1983, when he was 29 years old and an Assistant Attorney in Manhattan, he was arrested for possession of heroin. Sentenced to community service following rehab, he volunteered with Riverkeeper, a group fighting industrial pollution in New York’s Hudson River. He quickly became the organization’s Chief Prosecuting Attorney. Home is his priority, which is why he has not considered a bid for public office until now.
Jesus, let us take all our adversities as stepping stones for a good career in life and be benefited for the humanity at large. We pray for those who are experiencing life's adversities and let them come out unscratched having learnt great lessons of life for good. We pray for all the environmentalists who are contributing their mite for preservation of the earth in her pristine beauty, and health for future generations. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
