"Look! I see 4 men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of God.” (Daniel 3:25)
Passing through the fire of life but not burned.
We are destined to live with the challenges of life, unexpected calamities - natural and unnatural, death, sickness, divorce, a job lost, a friend lost, a lost love and lose everything, but life. But God’s children will pass through all these hurdles because Jesus, the great God and saviour is with them.
Isaiah 43:4 - ”Because I the Lord of Israel, am your saviour.”
The three youths, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were tied up and thrown into the blazing furnace. In the furnace, they were literally protected from fire by God himself standing with them.
Daniel 3:27 - “Their hair was not burned, their robes were not burned and they didn’t even smell of smoke.”
Family, our faith in God, trusted friends, fidelity of couples are all at stake. Nevertheless, the Lord and His words will never change.
Isaiah 43:2 - “When you walk through the fire, you will not be burnt, nor will flames hurt you."
Paul and Valsa with two little children had dreamed of a good life in USA. Paul was in the Defense as a Scientific Designer in a strategic area with a handsome salary and perks. They had a nice bungalow and the children were in high-end schools in Bangalore. They were offered a job in San Francisco in US with a very good salary, house, car and other perks in a secretive defense manufacturing company supplying to India. They resigned their jobs, sold their house, car and other belongings and were ready to leave the country. The nuclear test in Pokkaram in India was conducted on the day of their travel to the States. They smelt something bad in the airport but proceeded and landed in San Francisco. Nobody was in the airport to receive them. They were very disappointed and then, Paul contacted one his friends who had landed there 6 months ago. He came to the airport and took them to their house. There were no cots or space to accommodate them all but they were showered with lots of love. The next day, Paul took a taxi and went to the company but at the gate he was stopped and the company officials were not ready to entertain him. They wondered how Paul was there because on the day of the nuclear test itself, US had cancelled all contracts and employment from India. Even his ticket had been cancelled. He was given a small accommodation and a job with a very low salary. For 6 months, the family was in tears and on knees in front of Jesus. He put an end to their unexpected sufferings by providing one of the best job on par with his education and experience. For the last 14 years, he has been in the new company as the designer. The family together with their teenage boys is a living witness of Jesus and of our church in USA.
Jesus, we pray for those who are going through troubles in their lives. Save them from all their tears. Let them see your invisible hand around them as their protection. We pray for all the non-residents who are in difficulties and inhospitable terrain. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
