My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again.
Philippians 1:23-26
I need to confess something to you. Here goes…
There are times when I don't "feel" like preaching. I mean it! It's hard work to sit down, do research, write a sermon, preach it for thousands to hear, and then get emails from everyone who disagrees with me!
But I don't preach because I always "feel" like it. I preach because that's what God has called me to do, whether I feel like it or not! And interestingly enough, there are times when I "feel" like I've preached the lousiest sermon imaginable and God uses that weakness to do something great.
You see, faith and feelings are two different things. Feelings are fickle and will often fail you. But faith comes from God, who never changes, and because of that, your faith shouldn't be dependent on how you feel.
As you go throughout your life, you will have emotional ups and downs. Yet your faith, if it is a real faith given by God, can remain steady. That's the kind of faith that follows God even when you want to follow the world.
So whatever your situation is today—however you feel—trust in your faith, not your feelings, to guide you to make the right decisions!
FEELINGS CHANGE, BUT FAITH STAYS STEADY. SO WHATEVER YOUR EMOTIONS, REMEMBER THAT YOUR FAITH, NOT YOUR FEELINGS, SHOULD BE THE BASIS FOR HOW YOU LIVE!
