by Wes Hopper "We are not here merely to make a
living. We are here to enrich the world."
Woodrow Wilson
Most people that I know go off to
work in the morning to make a living.
That's what I did for many years.
Parts of it were quite fun and very
rewarding, and a lot of it was not.
When I look back now I can
clearly see that the rewarding
times were when I was making
a difference in the world.
The other times I was just making
a living.
Most of us just stumble on to that
discovery. "Hey, there is a difference
and I can feel it!"
But once we know the difference,
we can set out to do it deliberately.
One thing to know is that making
a difference doesn't require you
to change the whole world.
No, just make a difference where
you are!
That's where the world gets
changed, anyway. Right where
the world changer is.
With a clear sense of purpose
and a vision for what you want,
you can change your corner of
the world.
Maybe it'll spread, maybe it
won't. It's not your job to worry
about that.
On December 1st, 56 years ago
a black woman named Rosa Parks
changed her corner of the world
when she refused to give up her
seat on a bus to a white man.
She was arrested. But she had a
vision and a purpose. She wanted
to change the rules for black
people in her community. She
ended up changing the whole
country.
Just make a difference right where
you are. How big it gets is not
your worry.
Many blessings,
Wes

Be Happy With What You Have
It is easy to think "If I could just get a new car, a bigger house, a better job, or more money, then I'll be happy." We tend to view happiness as a commodity attainable by wealth. However, as the old saying goes, "money cannot buy happiness."
