Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
I heard about an old lady who bowed her head at the table one Thanksgiving and said out loud, “Thank you, Lord, for our food. Amen!”
So her grandson, sitting at the table a few places over turned to her and said, “Grandma, don’t you know that you’ll have that food whether you say thanks or not?”
And she replied, “Well, maybe so, but everything just tastes better when I say thanks!”
It’s true, isn’t it? Life is just better when you acknowledge and give thanks for the blessings you receive. Yet, in today’s world with so much assumption that people are entitled to this or that, that attitude of gratefulness is slowly fading.
The Bible tells you and me to give thanks in every circumstance, not just the good ones. How can we do that? By remembering that even in the worst of circumstances, we have Jesus. Whether you experience poverty, bad health, death, grief, or suffering, you still have Jesus, and He is always more than enough.
So today, and every other day, live your life with an attitude of gratefulness, knowing that in Christ, you have every spiritual blessing you need!
WHATEVER YOUR LIFE’S SITUATION, CULTIVATE AN ATTITUDE OF GRATEFULNESS IN YOUR HEART, APPRECIATING WHAT CHRIST DID FOR YOU AND ALWAYS GIVING THANKS TO GOD.
