If you're a vegetarian or non-meat eater, you'll enjoy this recipe for a tasty patty that's almost as good as a grass-fed beef patty, cooked rare. This will also come handy during the lenten days.
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cup cooked pinto beans (with liquid)
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/4 cup chopped Brazil nuts
2 Tbs nutritional yeast (like RedStar)
1/2 tsp sage
1/2 tsp salt (to taste)
Gravy or tomato sauce
Directions:
Mash beans or whiz in blender.
Add other ingredients and mix well.
Let mixture stand 5-10 minutes.
Shape into patties and bake at 350F degrees for 30 minutes in an oiled, covered
pan.
Turn after 15 minutes.
Serve with gravy or tomato sauce.
Patties can be simmered in sauce to soften.
Alternately, you can brown the patties on lightly oiled skillet, covered.
